Governance

SIPS Parents & Citizens Association Inc. is a member of the Federation of Parents and Citizens Associations of New South Wales, incorporated under the Parents & Citizens Associations Incorporation Act 1976.

Being incorporated ensures we are a legal entity. This means that:

  • Debts or liabilities and legal action are held against the P&C, not its individual members
  • We can apply for grants, operate a service at the school, host large fundraising events, own assets and meet online (eg Zoom – the constitution for unincorporated P&Cs does not allow for remote meetings)

SIPS Parents & Citizens Association Inc. is registered as a charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) and endorsed Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) for the SIPS Parents & Citizens Association Building Fund.

CONSITUTION

A broad document that outlines the fundamental principles and structure of the P&C. We operate under the (model) prescribed constitution per the Parents and Citizens’ Associations Incorporation Act 1976.

BY-LAWS

The legally-binding, specific and detailed operational rules that SIPS P&C operates under. These are voted by members through a simple majority vote.
